With Radar Brothers on hiatus since 2013’s Eight, Jim Putnam has revived his exploratory solo project Mt. Wilson Repeater putting his talent for experimental melody and composition on full display. After moving out of Los Angeles to a small community nestled against the San Gabriel Mountains, Putnam built a new studio in his backyard. “The studio is much smaller than my old one, with lots of windows looking out into the trees and mountains around me. It feels more like an observation post than a studio. With the smaller space, I’m more confined and I have all the gear and instruments at my fingertips. It’s very inspiring.”
