Destroyer may be in the middle of their North American tour, but that won’t stop the Dan Bejar–led outfit from sharing a new video from this year’s acclaimed album Dan’s Boogie—this time for its towering opening track, “The Same Thing as Nothing at All.” The video, directed by David Ray, finds Mr. Bejar on a walk through the Canadian wilderness that’s hardly as relaxing as its opening seconds would suggest. Revisit Dan's Boogie wherever you stream music, or pick up a copy on CD or LP from the Merge store!

Video director David Ray on “The Same Thing as Nothing at All”:

As a director of feature-length dramas, I approached this Destroyer video as a narrative in light and colour—letting the palette shift and evolve the way their music does, inspired by their artwork. It was a true collaboration, drawing on resources and students from Capilano University and blending emerging talent with seasoned professionals. Working with Director of Photography Sean Finan, editor Mauri Bernstein, and colourist Kipp Lightburn (Alter Ego) gave the piece a richness and depth that I think mirrors Destroyer’s sound—cinematic, layered, and alive.

Destroyer’s full-band tour, featuring support from Jennifer Castle, makes a stop tomorrow in Louisville, KY, and continues throughout October with dates in Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn (also featuring Cass McCombs), and points beyond. Following those North American dates, the band will head back to Europe for a run of shows featuring support from Eleanor Friedberger. Tickets for all dates are now on sale.
