Mike Krol’s “Fifteen Minutes” can be found on the I Hate Jazz portion of Mike Krol Is Never Dead: The First Two Records, the double-vinyl reissue that is in stores today. The song earned Krol many new fans when it was used in a pivotal scene in an episode of a popular Cartoon Network program; now, it’s the perfect soundtrack to a 90-second glimpse into the life of an eerily realistic Mike Krol mannequin!

Human Mike Krol on the history behind this new video:

Andrew Van Dorn and I came up with this music video concept six years ago when I Hate Jazz first came out, but lack of funding and shifting priorities resulted in us shelving it. With this reissue, we figured it was a “now or never” situation in which we could go back to our original storyboard and finally bring it to life. It truly was a DIY effort using only friends and family, with Andrew’s brother Brian taking a lifecast of my head, our friend Max Winston sculpting and painting it, and my roommate Anna Lian Tes art directing the interiors. We’re thrilled it’s finally seeing the light of day!

In addition to being stocked at your local independent record shop, Mike Krol Is Never Dead: The First Two Records 2-LP can also be copped in the Merge store with extras galore. You can also listen to the release now via these digital outlets.
