The Tubs— the London-based Celtic jangle boyband of Owen Williams (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass), Dan Lucas (guitar), Taylor Stewart (drums), and Max Warren (bass)—present the new single/video, “Stoop to Me,” from their new album, Hard Life, out September 11th via Merge Records. Listen to the track wherever you stream music, and pre-order Hard Life on CD, LP, and Peak Vinyl from the Merge store in the US or UK, or The Tubs' Bandcamp page!

Following lead single “Who’s Gonna Love You Now?,” which Brooklyn Vegan calls “another sparkling earworm about self-doubt that The Tubs are very good at,” “Stoop to Me” is the folkiest, jangliest pop song on the album. Fiddle player Chris Haigh’s licks complement Williams at his most self-deprecating, the lopsided smile of a guy trying not to let on how wounded he is in unrequited love.

Williams comments, “‘Stoop to Me’ is us at our most power-pop. There’s a few nods to Bob Mould in there as well as a kind of cider-drunk quality via the fiddle parts. To balance this out a bit I wrote from the perspective of a demented cuckold who keeps changing his story mid-chorus. The video (filmed and edited by Kit Harwood) is us playing a secret Gob Nation show with Spike and Garden Centre and doing some karaoke afterwards. A big Gob Nation bash involving lots of boozing in which various homies were passed around old video cameras…spliced in by Kit. A joyful night!”

The Tubs will embark on an extensive world tour this fall, including a month-long run in North America, during which they'll return to some of their favorite cities and fast-food joints in the US and beyond. Fans anticipating their chaos have even more to look forward to — see below for information on the bands who'll be supporting The Tubs on their North American tour!
