The Rock*A*Teens, those ragamuffins from Cabbagetown, are sharing another cut off their glorious return to the spotlight, Sixth House (out everywhere June 29). “Turn and Smile” involves illegal activity, the destruction of evidence, betrayal, and more; as NPR said upon album announcement, “This is the kind of darkly cinematic screenwriting that made those old Rock*A*Teens records so weirdly vibrant.”

When we asked the band for more information on Sixth House, they handed us an “episode guide” to their new album, including this excerpt regarding “Turn and Smile”:

In the interrogation room, a double-cross is recounted and a feverish romance comes to an unexpected conclusion. Thee groop attempts sister golden hair west coast folk rock but inevitably ends up in a humid gloomy marsh. A lyrical solo elevates the tune above the murk and a self-referential bridge sets up the denouement: a sequel of sorts.
