Listening to “Untitled (LA),” the new single from Fall into the Sun (out everywhere on October 5), the old Swearin’ is still there, but it’s a more confident, collaborative version than the one people first came to know. Singer-guitarists Allison Crutchfield and Kyle Gilbride continue to mine their innate ability to mirror each other’s movements in songs, but here they build a focused lyrical perspective across their songs, one that’s thankful for their past, but looks boldly toward the future.

Today, along with Fall into the Sun’s scrappy Side B opener, the band shares new North American tour dates in December. Check them both out now on Stereogum, or below:

ICYMI, “Grow into a Ghost” was shared upon the album announcement, which Pitchfork quickly marked as “a thundering return.” Pre-order Fall into the Sun on CD, LP, or limited-edition coke-bottle clear Peak Vinyl in the Merge store where you can bundle it with an exclusive Swearin’ t-shirt that will ship separately to arrive in early September, prior to the album’s release. In addition, all pre-orders in our store will receive a pair of 3D glasses (more info on that soon!) while supplies last. Fall into the Sun is also available to pre-order through your preferred digital music service and at your favorite independent record store.
