Jade Hairpins roar back to life with “Life In England,” an anthemic barb of a song that’s as hard-charging as it is acidic, packing a massive sweet-and-sour kick that’ll have you stomping and shouting along in fury and bliss.

The band's Jonah Falco calls the song “a swaggering, glammy punch-up in the canon of self-mockery and collective crying out. ‘Life in England’ is a love letter to being a slightly lost foreigner living in a chaotic and harmonic unending metropolis while whistling into the void like Elton Motello, Punksploitation, ’70s UK DIY, and Sparks. This is a tantrum in a teapot set to crunching guitars, toy organs, and huge chants worthy of the Ramones at the Roundhouse.”

Making their debut with a stealthily released 12-inch in 2018, Jade Hairpins revealed themselves as Fucked Up drummer Jonah Falco and songwriter/guitarist Mike Haliechuk on their 2020 debut album Harmony Avenue. For the first time, Falco took on the role of frontman and main lyricist, assembling a live band around his adopted hometown of London, England.

Described by Falco as “post-post-punk” with “a primordial sense of humor,” Jade Hairpins' music is pop with immediacy, confounding and irresistible in equal measure. And this is just a glimpse behind the curtain—you can bet there will be more from Jade Hairpins soon. In the meantime, listen to and share “Life in England” now, and see them on their November tour!
