Today, Grammy-nominated band Hiss Golden Messenger release the brand-new track “Shinbone” from their upcoming new album Jump for Joy, out August 25. Share and listen to “Shinbone” now and pre-order Jump for Joy on CD, LP, and translucent orange and black swirl vinyl from the Merge store!

“Shinbone” is about taking chances to move forward, especially if what you have been doing prior has not had a positive result. As Hiss Golden Messenger bandleader, singer, and songwriter M.C. Taylor explains: “I wrote this tune after abruptly coming out of a prolonged depression. As anyone that struggles with depression knows, sometimes you just snap out of it for no reason that you can discern. This song contains what I think may be one of the mission statements of Jump for Joy, namely: If you take the big gamble and lose it all, can you survive with whatever's left? That's the question a lot of us are asking ourselves.”

Hiss Golden Messenger recently announced an extensive fall tour of North America in support of Jump for Joy. See a full list of dates below.
