Fucked Up’s latest opus, Dose Your Dreams, arrives everywhere worldwide on October 5, but today we reach the epic’s apex with “Accelerate.” As the lyrical centerpiece of the album, it storms in like Boredoms on a bullet train and dissolves into a digital nightmare. Our hero David finds himself exhausted and at his weakest point, and opts to render himself a bomb ready to explode due to the constant charging and prodding of the consumer lifestyle. Before David does this, he plunges to the depths of his existence one last time…

We don’t want to ruin the climax for you, so listen to the song and watch its accompanying music video directed by the group’s Mike Haliechuk (who also directed “Normal People”), premiering today on NPR and below:

Also, to better assist in your exploration of Dose Your Dreams (or perhaps to open up its world even further), Fucked Up are sharing the lyrics to “Accelerate” on their website accompanied by extensive passages containing Easter eggs and signposts to new journeys that will lead you deeper into the DYD universe.
