Today, Fruit Bats release The Wild Honey Pie Pizza Party, an EP capturing an intimate solo Eric D. Johnson performance at the titular event which took place on July 30, 2023, at the Hotel Lilien in Tannersville, NY. Proceeds from the Bandcamp-exclusive release, available March 7–22, will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

Five of the EP’s six tracks sample from Johnson’s prodigious catalog, stripping down the studio wizardry of classics like “Humbug Mountain Song” to acoustic guitar and vocals, highlighting his technical proficiency and power. Also featured is a cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Threw It All Away” which bends the original’s interpretation of the Nashville sound back towards raw folk poetics through the force of Johnson’s own distinctive croon.

The Wild Honey Pie throws parties and makes music videos with their favorite artists from around the world. The goal is to build community around the music that means so much to so many people.
