With Dan Wriggins freshly returned from a run of solo shows, Friendship are back with “All Over the World,” the latest from their hotly anticipated album Caveman Wakes Up, out May 16. The track is appropriately named, as Friendship will make their way across the United States and Canada over the course of a newly announced summer tour.

The track, a smoldering rumination on the nature of working class life, is a showcase for Wriggins’ rueful baritone and poetic sense of the lyric, its keenly realized images of time spent at work and rest alike bleeding out into one of Friendship’s most compelling character studies yet. Listen to “All Over the World” wherever you stream music, and pre-order Caveman Wakes Up on CD or LP from the Merge store!

Dan Wriggins on “All Over the World”:

It’s about a guy in his 30s who works too many hours for a landscaping company, gets home every day, and all he can do is drink beer and watch TV and play video games, and he sees his life wasting away and feels bitter about it. But the song dwells on a brief moment of ecstasy, in which he feels life, connects to the world and forgets the world. Any resemblance to the past ten years of my life is purely coincidental!

Already slated for a three-night trip through the Carolinas, Friendship will return to the road this summer, beginning June 27. Tickets for the newly announced dates go on sale this Friday, March 21.
