The wait is nearly over: Destroyer's tour of the United States and Canada, a full-band affair in support of their transcendent new album Dan's Boogie, kicks off later this month. Before Dan Bejar & co. take to the highways and byways of this great continent, they're sharing a new David Galloway–directed video for closing track “Travel Light.” Revisit Dan's Boogie wherever you stream music, or pick up a copy on CD or LP from the Merge store!

The video for “Travel Light” is at once a traditional audiovisual pairing of tangentially connected performance and image, but, even more, it is the cinematic equivalent of an iMessage reaction. Possibly the question mark or thumbs up. Maybe even the crying eyes one.

Dan Bejar says:

“Travel Light” is a dreamsong captured in a simple and documentarian way, so I think it makes sense to splice me playing and singing it with footage of America’s Ghost Ship at night. The song is essentially saying, “All aboard!”

Dan's Boogie received rave reviews upon its release in March, and the upcoming tour was named one of Pitchfork’s most anticipated of the year. That anticipation will soon pay off: North American dates kick off on September 23 in Eugene, OR. Jennifer Castle will support all dates, with Cass McCombs joining for the October 11 show at Brooklyn’s Knockdown Center. A second round of European dates follows in November, with support from Eleanor Friedberger. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
