When I toured for the album [The Sound of Yourself], I had to learn how to play these songs on guitar when for the most part they had been written on bass or keyboards, so these are kind of the versions of these songs I’d be playing if I were doing a solo acoustic show (except “Dawn Bends (Piano)”—I cannot play the piano to save my life). There are just a couple embellishments, and the only guest is Matt Douglas on "Sleep Donor (Acoustic)" playing sax as he did on this song during the tour.
Recorded at home August 2022. All songs played and sung by Mac McCaughan. Saxophone on “Sleep Donor (Acoustic)” by Matt Douglas. Photo by Oona McCaughan.
