Just in time for their first-ever run of US headline dates, Case Oats are back, sharing “Bottom of an Afternoon," written and performed by Casey Gomez Walker and Spencer Tweedy. Rather than stripping down their sound, this configuration of Case Oats reveals new facets to their songwriting, centering Gomez Walker's voice in an entirely different soundscape than the one that buffeted her on the band's 2025 debut album Last Missouri Exit. The instrumentation, including an aching trumpet solo by Gomez Walker, laps at the frayed edges of pained memory, haunting her already disarmingly beautiful, honest sense of the lyric.
Casey Gomez Walker, on “Bottom of an Afternoon”:
"This song is a mantra for grief. As a kid I read Aesop’s Fables and was comforted by the idea that there’s always a moral to draw from an experience. As an adult, I find myself calling out asking “why?”, begging for visits from ghosts, holding on to any lesson I can find in the pages of books."
“Bottom of an Afternoon" is accompanied by a new music video, performed, filmed, and edited by Casey Gomez Walker and Spencer Tweedy.
