Formed in 1988, the members of 3Ds were all in other noteworthy New Zealand groups (Bird Nest Roys, Exploding Budgies, Goblin Mix, Look Blue Go Purple). The band was named for founders David Saunders, Denise Roughan, and Dominic Stones, and included fourth member David Mitchell.
