After debuting it this past Bandcamp Friday, the Mountain Goats are happy to announce that The Jordan Lake Sessions: Volume 5 is now available wherever you stream music!

Originally aired on August 25, this trip to Pittsboro, North Carolina’s Manifold Recording was a coming out party for the Mountain Goats’ latest critically acclaimed studio album, Bleed Out, which had come out a week earlier.

For many, this Jordan Lake Sessions outing was the first opportunity to hear music from Bleed Out live. “Jordan Lake 5 found us preparing for the Bleed Out tour and playing the songs together for the first time since recording them,” John Darnielle said of this volume. “We had been waiting a year to let these songs out of the cage and it was a pleasure to set them loose!"

Not only does The Jordan Lake Sessions: Volume 5 capture the adrenaline-pumping, pulse-pounding, bloodletting heroics of Bleed Out, its setlist contextualizes the record in the Mountain Goats’ deep catalog, from Dark in Here’s “Let Me Bathe in Demonic Light” to the unreleased live rarity “Tulsa Imperative.”

Hungry for more of the Mountain Goats? John Darnielle and Matt Douglas are hitting the road for a duo tour in February 2023. Several dates have sold out already, so don’t hesitate—grab your tickets today! The Mountain Goats return as a full band on July 1 at Chicago's The Salt Shed, with The Hold Steady.
