Parents, please check your Halloween candy tonight—we just cracked open a chocolate bar at Merge HQ and found a new Superchunk 7-inch! “There’s a Ghost” b/w “Alice” has taken corporeal form and is available physically for the first time on black & white swirl vinyl in the Merge store! This release is limited to 500 copies ready to be shipped from our warehouse, so order yours now!

Written and recorded during the 2020 lockdown, Superchunk’s surprise Halloween single is a paranoid parable about the perils of being shut in for too long with only the voices inside your head for company, backed by a 1983 track by one of the band’s favorites, The Sisters of Mercy.

Of the 7-inch release, Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan had this to say: “What’s truly frightening is that it takes years to get a record made these days! But we are known for our seasonal work, so we’re happy to have these tunes about spectral cohabitation out in the world!”
