Last year, in solidarity with the people of Portland, Oregon, Superchunk dropped a surprise “Songs in the Key of Abolish ICE” shirt during their two-night stand at Mississippi Studios. The shirts sold out immediately and caused a stir on social media, requested by Superchunk fans around the world. Now, in response to ongoing ICE activity in Minnesota and around the country, Superchunk is reprinting the shirt, with profits from the sale benefiting The People’s Laundry Minneapolis and the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. The shirts are available for preorder from the Merge store or Superchunk’s Bandcamp page for two weeks, February 5-13.

The People’s Laundry is a volunteer-run direct mutual aid group that provides laundry assistance to neighbors in need. For more information, visit https://thepeopleslaundrympls.com/.

The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) is a nonprofit organization that provides free immigration legal representation to low-income immigrants and refugees in Minnesota and North Dakota. ILCM also works to educate the community about immigration matters and advocates for public policies which respect the universal human rights of immigrants. For more information, visit https://www.ilcm.org/.

In addition to reprinting the Songs in the Key of Abolish ICE shirt, an acoustic Superchunk lineup of Mac McCaughan, Jim Wilbur, and Laura King will play as part of Bernie, Beats & Brew, which also features a performance by Yasmin Williams and a conversation between Dr. Carmen Rojas and Senator Bernie Sanders. The event takes place Thursday, February 12, at 6pm, at the Carolina Theatre of Greensboro — the event is free with an RSVP.
