Swedish pop darlings Shout Out Louds are finishing up their 2018 by releasing “Up the Hill,” a new track produced by Hyena (Elias, Janice, and more). It’s a brand-new single from the band, who released their fifth studio album Ease My Mind last year and toured with it on over 45 dates in the US and Europe. “Up the Hill” is released together with a music video of footage of the band from the past two years, from the recording of the Ease My Mind album to touring all over the world.
Catch up with the music videos from Ease My Mind—“Oh Oh,” “Jumbo Jet,” the title track, and “Porcelain”—then find the album on CD or limited-edition white vinyl (with 7-inch flexi disc option) in the Merge store, or via your preferred digital music provider. For more gems from the Stockholm band’s career, listen to “Introduction to Shout Out Louds,” a playlist we created on Spotify, and keep up with Shout Out Louds’ antics on Facebook and Instagram, too.
Shout Out Louds explain “Up the Hill”:
Life in this world is backbreaking at times, and I bet most of us sometimes feel at least a little bit like the allegorical orchestra playing on while the ship is sinking under our feet. And then that song comes on, and we get a moment’s respite. We have spent this year hawking and indulging in that fleeting feeling of peace; it was the theme of Ease My Mind, and we felt it was well earned in these chaotic times.
But folks, now is also the time to step up, speak your mind, and be brave. I don’t think I need to be more specific—the struggles out there are countless, and it’s up to each and every one of us to figure out where we are most needed. We’re all essential to turn the ship around, and that song will still always be there when you need it. Now, we promised you a little something to remember us by until next time. This is it.
