Today, Sacred Paws offer another look at their forthcoming album Jump Into Life—the bruised, open-hearted “Fall for You.” The track finds Ray Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers in full swagger musically, barreling through a thrillingly complex composition that, paired with Aggs’ raw, stripped-down lyrics, builds a miniature epic out of heartbreak.

The track and its video, animated by Aggs, premiered at Paste Magazine and were accompanied by news of a spring UK tour. “Fall for You” is available wherever you listen to music; catch up on Jump Into Life and pre-order your copy on CD or LP from the Merge store today!

Sacred Paws on “Fall for You”:

This guitar riff came about whilst we were jamming and felt a bit like a puzzle that we needed to solve to fit it into a song structure. The uneasy time signature led Ray to write lyrics about feeling on the edge of something emotionally devastating and fighting to stay balanced. Jack’s guitar solo at the end took the song into an even weirder melodic space that was also really exciting when he came in the studio to record it. The strings added even more drama, in a way that almost felt like too much, but we decided to take the plunge.

Since returning to the fold with “Another Day,” each successive release from Jump Into Life has served to illustrate the growth of Aggs and Rodgers as a unit, expanding their already voracious sonic palette and finding new means of building from each other’s strengths. “Fall for You” has the urgency of a dam bursting open, a rush of musical ideas brought to bear on heartbreak and what may come in its aftermath.
