Today, Rosali—the North Carolina–based songwriter and guitarist Rosali Middleman—shares “Slow Pain,” the title track from Slow Pain: Live and Solo from Drop of Sun. The song is now available wherever you listen to music.

The album, which captures an intimate performance of eight tracks from her acclaimed 2024 Merge Records debut Bite Down, along with standalone single “Hey Heron,” will be released digitally and on limited-edition purple cassette on August 1, 2025.  Pre-orders for both formats open today via the Merge store and Rosali’s Bandcamp page, and the cassette will also be available on her upcoming summer tour dates.

Recorded April 23, 2025, at the vaunted Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, NC, these recordings go beyond showing the bones of Bite Down. Pared down to Middleman’s voice and guitar and performed for a small audience, songs like “Slow Pain” are shaded in cooler tones, rearticulated to show the sleek musculature of her songwriting in an altogether new light.

In addition to releasing Slow Pain: Live and Solo from Drop of Sun, Rosali will soon embark on a run of full-band West Coast dates followed by a string of UK duo shows with H.C. McEntire. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
