Today, Reigning Sound share video of their performance of “Make It Up” from their forthcoming online concert “Reigning Sound at Harbor Town.” Shot earlier this year at the Harbor Town Amphitheater in Memphis, TN, the show features Greg Cartwright with the same hometown lineup that brought us the band’s earliest records as well as their latest, A Little More Time with Reigning Sound. The full concert premieres on September 10, and tickets are on sale now for just $7.98 (including service fee) with a two-week rebroadcast. In addition, the band has just added a souvenir scarf and songbook to their virtual merch table! Both are available for pre-order via Noonchorus and the Merge store.

Reigning Sound mastermind Greg Cartwright chose “Make It Up” as a preview from this performance, saying, “'Make it Up' is about looking for forgiveness and forgiving yourself.”

It’s been over 15 years since Cartwright uprooted to Asheville, NC, but this new Memphis-made record shows the songwriter in top form and wholly inspired by his birthplace. And it’s not only the terrain that’s familiar: For the new LP, Cartwright also reunited with Reigning Sound’s original “Memphis lineup” of Jeremy Scott (bass), Greg Roberson (drums), and Alex Greene (keyboards), all of whom played on the band’s earliest recordings. The new songs explore fresh lyrical and musical territories but at times also tastefully echo back to Reigning Sound’s Break Up, Break Down and Time Bomb High School. That’s not by chance—it’s just what happens when these musicians get in the same room. Their sonic chemistry hasn’t faded a bit.

Pick up A Little More Time with Reigning Sound and more from the band’s catalog on vinyl and CD in the Merge store. Reigning Sound headline Memphis’ Gonerfest 18 next month and return to the road in March! A full list of announced dates below.
