Today, Max Subar and Minor Moon principal Sam Cantor announce a run of fall tour dates. The tour, which begins October 20 in Bloomington, Indiana and winds through Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, will see the longtime collaborators performing on each others songs — Cantor playing guitar and bass during Subar’s set, and Subar playing pedal steel during Cantor’s, as he did on Minor Moon’s 2024 album The Light Up Waltz.

“Max is one of the deepest musical feelers I know and, for me, his unique sensibility on pedal steel helped to define the sound of the last Minor Moon record,” says Cantor. “Meanwhile, I’ve been a huge fan of Max’s local performances of the songs that became Anything Could Be for years, and am very excited to help share them on this run!”

“Sam and I have been in each other’s creative orbits for a long time and have discovered a lot of shared musical instinct along the way,” adds Subar. “I’m excited to get to play songs from Anything Could Be alongside him for the first time.”

Since the recent release of Anything Could Be in July, Subar has toured his acclaimed debut full-length record in varying configurations, as a soloist and with a full band. With Cantor on guitar and bass, those songs will transform once more, rollicking and yearning in new hues, while Subar’s exquisite pedal steel reaches for the heart of Cantor’s compositions. Chicagoland fans of Max Subar have multiple opportunities to hear Anything Could Be and the rest of Subar’s catalog live, beginning tomorrow when he opens for Jeff Tweedy in Berwyn, Illinois at Fitzgeralds outdoors. Tickets for his September 26 date with Liam Kazar, his November 1 date with fellow Merge artist Elanor Moss, and the newly announced Minor Moon duo dates are on sale now.
