Today, Ibibio Sound Machine share Eyio with the world! The digital EP features four songs culled from Uyai’s recording sessions, including a cover of The Cure’s “A Forest.”

(For further displays of Ibibio Sound Machine creating rewarding renditions of other artists’ music, check out their version of “Color in Your Cheeks” off the I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats podcast).

Next week, the band return stateside for a handful of dates; ticket links can be found on our Tours page.

Last summer, Ibibio Sound Machine performed at San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival, and the cameras were rolling as they played Uyai’s “Power of 3.” Find your power dance:

We recently received this dispatch from Ibibio Sound Machine:

EDI YUM MO means “conception” in Ibibio, and that’s what we’ve been up to—cooking up new things in our studio! We can’t wait to share our new creations with everyone. In the meantime, we’re coming to the US shortly to finish up touring our Uyai album and are releasing a few outtakes and unreleased tunes from the record ahead of our trip. Look forward to seeing you soon. xx

Ibibio Sound Machine’s Merge debut, Uyai, was released last year and caught the ears of The New York Times, PopMatters, Bandcamp, and NPR. The album is out now on CD and LP in the Merge store, and wherever you listen to music.
