Following the release of their acclaimed second album Uyai, and on the cusp of their first-ever performances in the US, London-via-Nigeria eight-piece Ibibio Sound Machine share a Richard Norris remix of the LP’s buoyant third single “Joy (Idaresit).” It’s a track that builds from syncopated beats and rumbling bass into expansive chanted choruses that will wriggle around in your head for weeks to come.

London-based DJ and scene luminary Norris lends the track a club-friendly, Balearic twist: in the process of layering on cowbells, oscillating synths, and glistening vocal effects, he creates a space to truly lose yourself in. He speaks highly of the collaboration: “It’s an honor and a privilege to remix such a red-hot live act. I added a hint of Compass Point and a heap of percussion, hopefully raising the hypnotic sound of ‘Joy’ up even further. What a great voice to work with, what a fine band.”

Norris’ mix comes as Ibibio Sound Machine travel stateside for their first American shows ever, including free performances in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Check out those dates below, as well as a new string of headline UK dates in October.
