“The group’s spectacular fourth album, Electricity, was produced alongside members of Hot Chip, who helped the Sound Machine tap into an even more powerful and emphatic presence on record. Their thunderous synths now feel like they have their own gravitational field, and [Ibibio frontperson Eno] Williams’ voice rings out as if from the top of a mountain. This is music that summons a crowd to join together in celebration—just the thing that’s been hardest to come by over the past two years.” —Pitchfork

“Perhaps the most inspired musical pairing of recent years.” —Uncut

“Afrobeats harmonize with British electronica on the latest from Ibibio Sound Machine” —NPR All Things Considered

“Their most kaleidoscopic project to date. It’s got the same vibrancy, heart-thumping beats and empowered Ibibio and English vocals but the songs reach new heights both lyrically and instrumentally.” —The Observer

“…the sound of a band fully in command of their sound—stretching out, exploring their capabilities, and finding new sonic territory” —Bandcamp

Still riding high from the release of their beloved new album Electricity, London’s Ibibio Sound Machine are thrilled to announce their first live dates in North America since its release. The autumn tour will see the band traveling extensively on both coasts and many places in between; tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10am local time. A full list of performances can be found below, including their busy summer festival schedule and a pair of new hometown dates supporting Coldplay at Wembley Stadium.

Today, Ibibio Sound Machine also share a remix of Electricity’s BBC-approved single “All That You Want” by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, a key figure in the album’s production.

Here’s Joe Goddard on the remix:

“Producing the Ibibio Sound Machine album was a really special thing to be involved in. They are really talented and lovely people, and I can’t wait to see them play these songs live this summer. The ‘All That You Want’ remix is designed to be a Shep Pettibone–style extended version which aims to showcase their great songwriting.”

Electricity is available now wherever you listen to music, and on CD and LP in the Merge store as well as the band’s merch table. Look for limited-edition yellow & black splatter Peak Vinyl at participating independent record shops!
