H.C. McEntire’s debut LIONHEART was released in January, an album that Pitchfork described as “a baptism, the sound of a woman newly believing in who she has always been.” Along with the announcement of new 2019 tour dates—including appearances at SF's Noise Pop and Chicago's TNK Fest—comes a new music video for LIONHEART’s “Wild Dogs.” Over a simple drum machine, McEntire duets with Angel Olsen; if the pairing sounds familiar, it’s because the two harmonized together on stages across the world in support of Olsen’s last album, MY WOMAN. Instead of letting the collaboration end there, the North Carolinians shot the “Wild Dogs” video together and teamed up with the production crew Oh Dear You to complete.

Oh Dear You had this to say about their collaboration: “nostalgia and despair will kill your heart, but if one can see these places of hurt clearly, then one sees them for the life enriching, life affirming and ultimately radically beautiful places that they are.”

For more McEntire, we recommend listening to her interview on WUNC’s The State of Things, which took place after she opened the main stage at Hopscotch Music Festival last month. In case you missed them, watch McEntire’s other music videos for “One Great Thunder,” “Baby’s Got the Blues,” and “Quartz in the Valley” before grabbing your copy of LIONHEART wherever records are sold and listened to.

“LIONHEART is a country debut like no other.” —Uproxx

“McEntire delves into a country sound that honors the sonic tradition, while adding a much-needed progressive viewpoint.” —Rookie

“breaking boundaries of both the sound of country music and the topics that country singers are expected to sing about” —Brooklyn Vegan

This weekend, McEntire hits the road with Amy Ray (who sings on LIONHEART’s “Red Silo”) before heading across the Atlantic for a solo tour supporting Natalie Prass. Tickets for the 2019 shows go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time, so don’t miss your chance to hear McEntire’s songs live!
