Last night, Eric D. Johnson and Fruit Bats played in front of a sold out Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. Today, the reason for the season, Fruit Bats' stunning new full-band album The Landfill, is out in full! The Landfill was recorded during an especially prolific period of time for Johnson. Soon after completing the solo album Baby Man, he entered a fully collaborative environment in the studio with his longtime touring band. Together they prioritized instinct and chemistry over polish, with few overdubs, no click tracks, and performances captured largely in the room, in real time. The Landfill was produced by Johnson, with mixing and additional production by long-time collaborator Thom Monahan.
