Today, Eric D. Johnson of Fruit Bats shares three new performance videos. Collectively dubbed “Sonoma Session,” the videos — solo acoustic performances of “That Goddamn Sun,” “Fishin’ For A Vision,” and “Let You People Down” — are now available to watch on Fruit Bats’ YouTube page.
The songs on “Sonoma Session” can be found on The Landfill, Fruit Bats’ latest album from June 2026, and the 2025 solo Fruit Bats album Baby Man. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “some of the most sonically rich work Fruit Bats have captured in the studio yet,” The Landfill has quickly become a landmark album for fans of the hit parade that is Eric D. Johnson’s catalog, leading to Fruit Bats’ largest-ever run of headline dates.
What critics are saying about The Landfill:
“…smart writing combined with the benefit of hindsight tends to make for compelling music … all the more so when the guy who's writing it has decided there's no need to spend a lot of time second-guessing himself.” —Paste
“…a record that feels loose without losing shape, deeply personal without closing itself off… The Landfill is Fruit Bats' twelfth album and one of the project's most vibrant full-band statements to date.” —Atwood Magazine
“It's a compelling collection from beginning to end, and indeed, a fine reflection of Johnson's unwavering instincts.” —Goldmine Magazine
Following the first leg of their North American tour and EDJ’s first-ever solo Fruit Bats tour of Australia, the full-band Fruit Bats experience returns to the road this week, beginning with a hometown show at the Bellwether in Los Angeles on September 30. Fruit Bats’ 2026 tour will continue through November, hitting Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta, New Orleans, and points beyond.
