A new day dawns, and rising to greet it is Friendship’s Caveman Wakes Up. Currently enjoying its reign as Stereogum’s Album of the Week, the Dan Wriggins–led outfit’s latest, which includes the guttural Philly ode “Tree of Heaven,” is now available in full.

Next month, Friendship and 2nd Grade will hit the road, with 22º Halo joining them in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

What critics are saying about Caveman Wakes Up:

“Caveman Wakes Up truly is a triumph. Friendship’s fourth album finds the Philadelphia band ascending to greatness, arriving at the place they’ve spent the past decade going. It’s one of the most assured indie rock albums in recent memory, the sound of a brilliant writer coming into his own and a band honing in on the ideal aesthetic complement for his songs, imbuing his quiet indignities with a plaintive grace.” —Stereogum

“If Friendship’s songs are rooms, then they have assembled and arranged the furniture in a way that immerses the listener with distinctive intimacy.” —Paste Magazine

“Friendship’s got some of the best songs in the game. But there’s always room for improvement.” —Jake “MJ” Lenderman

“11 songs of understated catharsis, wry humor, and devastating one-liners… some of my favorite tracks of the year.” —Josh Terry, No Expectations

“A deceptively artful examination of, and expression of, depression.” —AllMusic

“We struggle, we learn, we live, we have Friendship.”—KLOF Mag
