This week and next, Dawn Richard brings her “Electro Revival” party to Austin’s SXSW, LA’s Peppermint Club, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Knoxville’s Big Ears Festival. Before she heads to Texas, Richard is sharing a masterful remix of “Pressure” by producer Afriqua. Fall in love with the Second Line fan favorite in a whole new light today:

Listen to & share “Pressure (Afriqua Remix)” by Dawn Richard now

Dawn Richard: “‘Pressure’ is about breaking the traditional construct of a pop song. I wanted to show the beauty of Black culture within that space. Joining forces with Afriqua, we’ve blended Afrobeat and pop to shift the sound of what people think of when they hear the word ‘mainstream.’”

Afriqua: “It’s rare that I’m feeling something so much that I feel an absolute need to remix it, but the moment I listened to Second Line, I knew I had to hit up Dawn. She’s a true force. So glad that I ended up getting the stems from that longshot, and even happier with how the remix turned out.”

Dawn’s Electro Revival continues well beyond March, too, with appearances at New Orleans Jazzfest, Pitchfork Festival Chicago, LA’s This Ain’t No Picnic, and more. Join Dawn Richard’s second line when it reaches your town, and pick up her critically acclaimed record Second Line in the Merge store today.
