Out today, Introduction to Escape-ism is a bite into a one-banana bunch: a drum box, a guitar, a cassette player, and a single slobbering, sinful voice singing out…for a way out.

To mark the occasion, Escape-ism’s one and only I.F. Svenonius shares a music video for “Walking in the Dark,” described by directors Shane McKenzie and Alexandra Cabral as “VHS all-analog new nostalgia.” Try it on for size below.

Those in Baltimore can celebrate with Svenonius in person tonight, as Escape-ism opens for No Age at Metro Gallery. After his performance at Brooklyn’s Ceremony224 tomorrow, Svenonius will take Escape-ism across the Atlantic for a tour of the UK and Europe. A full list of dates can be found below.

Introduction to Escape-ism is available now on CD and limited-edition white vinyl in the Merge store, via one of these digital providers, or at your favorite independent record shop.
