Britt acted on this assessment, telling Dan he possessed one of the best rock ’n’ roll voices he’d heard. A flattered Dan upped the ante, telling Britt he’d been an ordering-singles-through-the-mail-level Spoon fan since high school, and moreover, that mail-order Spoon singles had inspired Dan to quit the Metallica cover band he’d been playing in and singlehandedly set him on the path to his future life in Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs.

Divine Fits return with a double A-side 12-inch featuring two new tracks: "Ain't That the Way"and "Chained to Love". Spin notes, "The studio version of 'Chained to Love' brings welcome clarity to the earlier audience live recording and adds an unexpectedly lush, orchestral mien, while previously unheard 'Ain't That the Way' is all muscular chords and clipped, terse ferocity".

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0966/3935/3143/files/70ffa94529e26f07c883eb9898202e1b39d88fad_c421908b36d6f11bd0ae548ee9ee34ceaa34a77a_medium_jpg.jpg?v=1785380379
divine-fits-a-thing-called-divine-fits
Divine Fits - A Thing Called Divine Fits

Here is a thing called Divine Fits, a new band comprising Spoon's Britt Daniel, Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner and Sam Brown of Columbus, OH's New Bomb Turks. This, their first album, titled A Thing Called Divine Fits, was released in the US on August 28, 2012.

A Thing Called Divine Fits was made with much excitement and energy from March through May (minus a few weeks off for research) in a backyard studio in Los Angeles. It was co-produced with Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grinderman, Public Image Limited.) It's about 42-and-a-half minutes long. Alex Fischel plays keyboards like a madman all over it. (Roughly) half the tracks are lead-sung by Dan and half by Britt. And over the course of its 11 songs it covers such topics as the death of true love, hitchhiking, cocoa butter, emotional distance, what happens when the curtain drops, and Minneapolis, MN.

LP includes a coupon for a full download.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0966/3935/3143/files/9305091c9149d724f26ec661ea757dea3433c7e2_477958b241276e9e00278cf471940f79a2068bc6_medium_jpg.jpg?v=1785380689
divine-fits-live-at-third-man-records
Divine Fits - Live at Third Man Records

Recorded live to tape on June 17, 2013, Divine Fits delivered an energetic set in the celebrated Blue Room at Third Man Records.
