Polvo

Polvo
Polvo were a critically acclaimed and widely influential rock band from Chapel Hill, NC, during the 1990s. The band was fronted by vocalists/guitarists Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski.

Celebrate the New Dark Age, Polvo’s guitar-twisting seven-song EP is a Merge hallmark; originally released in 1994 and considered their best output in some circles.  Now reissued on 180 gm vinyl Celebrate the New Dark Age is remastered for vinyl aficionados by Bob Weston and comes complete with a great letterpress sleeve designed and printed by Bruce Licher, whose Independent Project Press designed the original, long-out-of-print triple 7” release.

Celebrate the New Dark Age, indeed.  Years ahead of their time, Polvo’s sound is nothing short of awe inspiring and remains timeless to this day.

Polvo: Celebrate the New Dark Age

This 180 gram vinyl reissue of the Magnetic Fields’ classic 1994 full-length, Get Lost, contains thirteen songs from the worst year of Stephin Merritt’s life, remastered for vinyl and re-sequenced by Merritt himself.  Fans of the Magnetic Fields will want to be sure to get this.  As with all of our high-quality vinyl reissues, Get Lost includes a coupon for an MP3 download of the entire album in its new sequence.

Camera Obscura’s second full-length was an epiphany for many music fans. On 2004’s Underachievers Please Try Harder, Camera Obscura create lilting, sophisticated melodies that draw similarities to the work of contemporaries such as Belle and Sebastian, The Clientele, and Trembling Blue Stars, but are also rooted in more classic sounds such as Nick Drake, Donovan, and Petula Clark.  Songs drift and linger like clouds in a summer sky, with gentle hooks and breezy vocals that stick in your head like a pleasant memory.  We are now offering Underachievers Please Try Harder remastered for LP and presented on high-quality 180 gm vinyl with a coupon for an MP3 download of the entire album as well as two bonus tracks from Merge’s CD version of this classic.
